7 Benefits of Dry Brushing
When we think of detoxing we tend to think of organs such as the liver and kidneys, however, your skin is your largest organ and therefore plays a major role in ridding your body of toxins everyday! So not only is it important to reduce the amount of toxins we apply topically to our skin by using only clean + non-toxic beauty products, it is also extremely important to assist our skin with further detoxification.
One of the best ways to encourage skin detoxing is through dry brushing. Dry brushing involves using a dry brush (go figure!) and moving it slowly across the body in circular motions towards the heart.
Dry brushing is free, takes about 5 minutes a day, extremely simple to do and helps cleanse the body internally and externally.

- Lymphatic Drainage: The lymphatic system is an integral part of our immune system made up of lymph nodes, ducts, organs and vessels; many of which run just below the skin. By dry brushing regularly, the lymphatic system is stimulated resulting in detoxification and an improved immune system.

Tips for Dry Brushing:
- Start with a good quality dry skin brush made with natural bristles that feel fairly stiff but not overly so. Ideally the dry brush will have a long enough handle to access hard to reach areas such as the back.
- Dry skin brushing should be done at least once a day (not at night) – ideally before a shower to rinse off the dead skin cells. If you have the time, try dry brushing twice a day for even better results!
- For the best results, dry brush your entire body, starting at your feet and work your way up your legs to your arms, chest, back, and stomach. Avoid brushing your face, genitals, or any areas with irritations or abrasions (including varicose veins).
- Brush with moderate pressure for anywhere between 2 to 20 minutes (depending on how much time you have). Your skin should be pink and flushed when your done (not red or irritated).
